Sally Kettle

Charlene is a 30 year old senior spa therapist from Cardiff, South Wales. She took up rowing four years ago as a way of overcoming her fears having suffered a near fatal drowning accident 11 years ago.

She began pulling the project together in 2012, and has faced some ups and downs, most recently when her rowing partner decided to drop out - unfortunately the trip wasn't for him.

Not to be deterred she is determined to compete the row. For her it's about not letting fear get in the way of achieving her dream - to complete an ultra-rowing marathon.

She really wants to push herself to the limit, to truly achieve something extraordinary... to whole heartedly say, “I’m living, not just existing”.

Sally is a 36 year old adventurer with two ocean rows already under her belt. She completed her very first world record breaking row with her mother, Sarah in 2004. She went on to row as skipper of a women's four in 2005, completing the race as a three having faced the worst weather for that region in 200 years.

When Charlene's partner pulled out just 8 weeks before the row Sally thought she'd hung up her oars, but the call of the ocean was too strong. She's joined the team with only two months to go before the big off, but she can't wait to take on this next amazing adventure.
